Backstage at Dior Summer 2027: Silver Eyes and Fresh, Luminous Skin

For Dior’s Summer 2027 Women’s Collection, designed by Jonathan Anderson, the beauty look embraced a balance of natural radiance and futuristic detail. Created by Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director of Dior Makeup, the look centred on fresh, healthy-looking skin, sculpted brows, beach-textured hair and flashes of metallic silver around the eyes.

“We went for a nude, healthy glowy face with some silver accents on the eyes,” explained Philips.

The Art of a Luminous Base

The complexion was deliberately polished without appearing heavily made-up. Rather than relying on one hero base product, Philips created the glow through a carefully layered combination of skincare, illuminating complexion products and sheer colour.

Skin was first prepared with Dior Capture Lotion Essence Intense, followed by Dior Capture Le Sérum and Dior Capture Crème Fine. This skincare-first approach gave the models a hydrated, luminous base before makeup was applied. Which reflected well under intense lights backstage and on the catwalk.

Dior Forever Skin Veil was then used to illuminate the skin, while Dior Forever Skin Glow evened the complexion without covering its natural texture. Dior Forever Skin Correct provided targeted coverage where needed, followed by a light dusting of Dior Forever On Set Powder.

The result was a glowy natural looking base with a light blush and barely there lipstick. The look of being in the outdoors all day. Wild and Free.

The Return of “Boyfriend Blush”

Colour was applied using what Philips described as a downward “boyfriend blush” technique. Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Stick in either 012 Rosewood or 103 Toffee was blended into the complexion, creating a softly flushed effect that appeared to melt into the skin.

A touch of Dior Backstage Glassy Glow Stick in 017 Glossy Jelly added a transparent, dewy sheen. Dior Backstage AirFlash Mist was sprayed across the entire face as the final setting step.

The placement of the blush brought an understated, slightly undone quality to the otherwise refined complexion. It felt less sculpted than traditional runway makeup and more reminiscent of naturally warmed skin after time outdoors.

Silver Became the Statement

While the skin remained nude, the eyes introduced the collection’s most striking detail.

Some models wore a solid silver wing at the outer corner of the eye, while others had an exceptionally fine line of metallic silver drawn across the upper lash line. The variation allowed the silver to feel individual to each face sometimes graphic and architectural, and elsewhere barely there.

Against the healthy complexion, the cool-toned metallic finish created a clean, modern contrast. It offered a quieter interpretation of futuristic beauty: precise enough to command attention without overpowering the face.

Eyebrows were brushed upwards and kept naturally full using Diorshow On Set Brow and Diorshow Brow Styler.

Barely-There Lips

Lips were kept close to their natural colour, enhanced only with Dior Addict Lip Maximizer in 001 Pink.

The soft pink gloss added hydration and a subtle shine without competing with the silver eye detail. It continued the wider theme of the look: natural features were not concealed or dramatically reshaped, but gently illuminated and refined.

A Richer Mood in Burgundy and Red

The nails provided the richest colour story backstage.

Hands were prepared using Dior Le Baume and Dior Huile Abricot before models were given either a natural-looking manicure or a high-impact colour. The two statement shades were Dior Vernis 047 Night 1947, a deep burgundy, and Dior Vernis 853 Red Trafalgar, a vivid Dior red.

Dior Base Vernis, Dior Nail Glow and Dior Top Coat completed the manicures and pedicures.

The darker nail shades brought an element of classic French Dior glamour to the otherwise minimal beauty look. Burgundy felt particularly sexy alongside the silver eye, offering depth and edge without disrupting the collection’s fresh summer mood.

Beach-Textured Hair Completed the Look

Hair was worn loose and styled into mermaid waves with beachy texture. The undone finish softened the precision of the metallic eye makeup and reinforced the sense of Spring ethereal.

To me, Dior Summer 2027 captured the essence of modern French-woman chic. Think long, natural, done-but-undone waves paired with minimal makeup: glowing skin, a pinch of blush and dark, powerful brows. The silver eye delivered a statement with the lightest possible touch, while short, dark, immaculately manicured nails completed the look.

It was minimalism with a point of view and proof that one perfectly placed metallic detail can transform an otherwise natural look.
