This year many of us have been rethinking our travel adventures, of course, we have been forced into this way of thinking, but there are many ways we can benefit from this too. Knowing exactly what we want from a holiday, and essentially working out what the perfect getaway is for us is going to help us in our future adventures.
We can’t always do what we would like, for one reason or another we may find ourselves unable to book that flight, or unable to take time off work, but when we know exactly what the perfect getaway is, when we do find ourselves in a position to be able to book, then we are much less likely to waste time, and possibly get it wrong.
Here are a few things to consider before booking your next getaway, to make sure that you have the perfect experience.
Destination
Of course, the whole point of travelling is to find yourself in a new destination, but we don’t always know exactly what this is at first. We may think that we would like to visit a particular country, but as we know there are plenty of different destinations within one country, or even within one small area of a country. Checking out city guides and reading everything in detail doesn’t take away the adventure, in fact, it just helps you find the best adventure for you.
If you are looking for a time to party, then you are going to find yourself disappointed if you choose a sleepy seaside time. There are some hidden gems as well, and reading city guides about various travel destinations is going to help you make the right decision. What is a perfect destination for one maybe a nightmare for someone else, so finding exactly the right place for you is the first step to a great holiday.
Travel
Depending on your chosen destination you will have some options when it comes to the mode of transport that you choose. You don’t have to always go with the travel agents suggestions if you want a little bit more flexibility then hiring a car for the other end of your journey, and exploring the area in much more detail could be the best option for you.
However, if you are more than comfortable on public transport and find it adds an air of adventure to your travels then this could be the option for you. Ultimately finding out the travel routes, working out an itinerary and being clued up on what is normal for that area, and any places that you might find yourself stranded if you don’t think ahead is a great way to prepare. It may even be a great opportunity to try some extra adventure in your mode of transport, and try out some hand gliding, zip wires, or speed boats for fun.
Luggage
Some people love to pack everything including the kitchen sink to go away, but there is something to be said for travelling light. Unfortunately we don’t always know what’s going to happen when we get to our destination, but one thing is for sure if you need to travel a little bit further to get to your hotel, or if you need to transfer between vehicles unexpectedly, then having 12 suitcases to carry around with you may be a little bit inconvenient.
This again boils down to your personal preference, and everybody is different of course, but making sure that you are comfortable and calm during your travelling experience will set you up for the perfect getaway before you even arrive. It’s also worth noting that luggage can be handled a little rough during the process, so investing in some sturdy luggage and accessories will hopefully help you avoid any breakages.
Recording
When you have found your perfect getaway and you find yourself at your destination, it is always a wonderful idea to start recording your memories. You will thank yourself for grabbing a camera and taking some photos and videos from the very beginning. You still need to be able to focus on what you are doing and enjoy the moment too, but making sure that you have something to look back on, and some photos to print for your walls will help you look forward to your next perfect getaway as well.
You don’t need to have a professional camera to do so, phones have incredible cameras attached to them these days, and you are able to upload them directly to the cloud for safety as well. Before long you could have an album full of special memories to look back on.
