Marylebone’s The BoTree is blooming like never before. From 10th April, the luxury hotel known for its creativity and elegance presents ‘The BoTree in Bloom’ – a mesmerising floral spectacle designed by the celebrated artist Hamish Powell. This six-week display transforms the hotel’s architectural lattice into a vivid, living artwork, crafted by Powell’s expert touch.
Powell’s installation is an ambitious blend of nature and design. Towering palms, flowing pink tillandsia garlands, hanging cacti, and clusters of mixed bromeliads entwine in a tapestry of controlled chaos. A chandelier made of vibrant bromeliad plants serves as the installation’s dazzling centrepiece, brought to life with warm, energy-efficient lighting that highlights the work’s depth and complexity, day and night.
Step inside The BoTree’s lobby, and Powell’s mastery continues with a sculptural floral centrepiece that echoes the beauty of the exterior. Powell’s vision turns the entire hotel into a botanical wonderland, combining scientific precision with artistic imagination. It’s like stepping into a garden party hosted by Mother Nature herself – with Powell as the floral DJ spinning beats of bloom.
“The BoTree’s structure, energy, and spirit provide the perfect canvas for something truly wild and wonderful,” says Powell, whose innovative designs have captivated audiences from Los Angeles to Paris, Sydney to Singapore. Known for blending natural elements with cutting-edge artistry, Powell’s work consistently redefines what floristry can achieve.
But this experience isn’t limited to the eyes alone. The BoTree Bar and LAVO are also part of the celebration, offering floral-inspired cocktails to delight the palate. Signature drinks include The BoTree Bloom & Fizz Spritz (Grey Goose vodka, Pómello Apéritif, orange blossom, soda water), The Powell Paloma (Pómello Apéritif, Patrón Silver tequila, grapefruit, agave, lime, edible pansy, and sparkling Tigerella tomato water), and The Botanist’s Tonic (Tanqueray No.TEN gin, Pómello Apéritif, lemon, coriander, black pepper, and aromatic jasmine petal).
It’s not just art, it’s a full-on floral fiesta. And what’s a fiesta without a cheeky cocktail (or three)? Whether you’re a seasoned mixologist or someone who just enjoys a fancy drink, you’ll find something deliciously botanical to sip on.
Reena Pabari, Head of Marketing at The BoTree, highlights the collaboration’s synergy: “Our hotel embodies a creative energy, and Hamish Powell’s floral artistry brings an explosion of colour and life to our lattice. We’re excited to invite guests, locals, and friends to experience this living artwork.”
Beyond the breathtaking visuals and tempting cocktails, The BoTree is inviting the public to get involved. Snap a photo of the lattice installation, tag The BoTree and The BoTree Bar on social media, and you could win a complimentary night’s stay and dinner at LAVO. So, go on – grab your phone, strike a pose, and get snapping. After all, who doesn’t love a good floral selfie?
Open for public enjoyment until the end of May, The BoTree in Bloom is a must-see for anyone craving a touch of beauty and creativity in the heart of Marylebone. Whether you’re a guest or simply passing by, Powell’s vision offers an unforgettable experience.
