The Montagu – a truly luxurious sanctuary mere moments from the busy footpaths of Oxford Street, embodies the essence of traditional British dining. Situated within the prestigious Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill, this restaurant exudes an air of grandiosity from the moment you step through its doors.
The elegant decor is apparent in the restaurant’s expansive dining room, adorned with sleek marble floors and resplendent chandeliers, setting the tone for anything from an intimate dinner for two or a larger gathering. The ambiance is further enhanced by the perfect acoustic backdrop; on our visit classic covers were sung live, accompanied by a guitar, allowing diners to truly relax and savour the experience.
At The Montagu, Sundays are celebrated in style with their signature family-style roast, priced at £39 per person. Select from two succulent slow-cooked joints, carefully sourced from The Ethical Butcher, ensuring the finest quality English seasonal produce graces your plate. And for those looking to elevate the occasion, why not indulge in two hours of bubbly for an additional £35 per person?
Ahead of the main event, The Montagu tempts you with an array of tantalising appetisers, including plump Manzanilla olives, warm seeded bread paired with creamy salted butter, and an assortment of dipping options ranging from red pepper hummus to olive oil with balsamic vinegar.
The Sunday roast itself is a delight. Meat lovers will rejoice at the sight of slow-cooked cuts of beef joint (pork was also offered as a delectable alternative), with a melt-in-the-mouth texture, served alongside helpings of roasted potatoes, indulgent cauliflower cheese, tender stem broccoli, and towering Yorkshire puddings, all brought to the table to share. The rich gravy, which can be poured to one’s own liking, ties all the elements together, creating a true taste of British tradition on a plate. This generous feast is complemented by an array of vegetarian and vegan options, ensuring there is something to satisfy all tastes.
