STK’s New Menu is a Rare Treat

Finding a reliable place to get a perfectly cooked steak in London has recently become, ahem…rare. But all puns aside, with its latest menu update London’s masterful steakhouse STK does exactly what its name suggests: strips back its offering to ensure the prime cuts of beef are the main attraction.

Echoing its sleek décor, STK is all about bringing creative flair to its dining experience. And here, as the saying goes, you start as you mean to go on – with the finest ingredients, inventively prepared. So whether you’re tempted by a light yellowfin tuna tartare with avocado and soy-honey emulsion to start, or you’re feeling playful enough to sample the wagyu cigarols – tender A5 wagyu tartare enveloped in crisp wonton pastry – every option is sophisticated and balanced.

Steak is, without question, the star of the show here and the new bone marrow butter topping certainly is the perfect finishing touch of main character energy. If you’re going to treat yourself to some of the most luxurious steak in London, you simply must push the boat out with this added indulgence.

That said, there are a wealth of tasting plates and sharing options available if you prefer not to limit yourself to the confines of just one main dish and a side.

The classic steak accompaniments like mac and cheese and triple cooked chips are always a winner. But between bites of the most perfectly cooked rib-eye, we would recommend sampling the buffalo cauliflower tacos, with pickled red cabbage and blue cheese ranch, and the smoky bbq corn ribs in STK’s signature spice blend, for something a little different.

STK favourites like the braised short rib have been given a refresh. It is now served with Yukon Gold mashed potato, roasted pepper relish and crispy onions, whereas the grilled lamb rack has been updated with brown butter sweet potato purée and honey-glazed carrots.

Of course, no elevated steak dinner would be complete without cocktails, and the recently launched Cherry Blossom makes for a light, fruity and floral accompaniment to your meal. Combining Bombay Sapphire gin with Savoia Arancio aperitivo, lemon and cherry blossom, it’s a delicate tipple that we fell in love with while sampling the new menu. Prefer something a little smokier? The Wagyu Old Fashioned sees Maker’s Mark whiskey fat-washed with Wagyu beef and then combined with salted maple syrup and cocoa bitters. A grown-up sweet boozy treat. How about a cocktail that’s totally wild? Combining blue cheese vodka, grapefruit and citrus, The Bull is unexpectedly entrancing.

School night, or just sober curious? Never fear, STK’s expanded alcohol-free selection includes Forest Fire, a spicy drink with calamansi juice, padron, pepper syrup and ginger beer, and the Fifth & Lime, a drink that combines lychee, lime and agave with Everleaf Marine, a non-alcoholic aperitif inspired by the ocean.

STK’s new menu certainly evokes the spirit of the restaurant’s bustling corner of London. If you want a dining experience that channels the suave, chic energy of the West End, plus the drama of theatreland, look no further.
