Once in a blue moon a car will be unveiled that is so spectacular that even the most jaded among will feel a shock of excitement charge through them. The Defender 130 is the culmination of Land Rover’s 75 years of exquisite craftsmanship and innovation. The Defender 130 is an ode to the rugged charm of the classic Defender, with the power and innovation to seduce the next generation of Defender drivers.
The Defender 130 is a beauty and a beast. With its raised bonnet and perfectly sculpted grille, it is contemporary and compelling in equal measure. It has form and function without sacrificing either and a bold and beautiful design that demands attention.
The Defender 130 embodies power, put your foot down and listen to the melodic roar from the supercharged 5L V8 under the bonnet. More than anything it is undeniable fun to drive, whether
More than anything it is fun to drive, whether you are on the perfectly paved roads of Notting Hill or cutting through a 100ft sand dune in Abu Dhabi like butter. As you would expect it is phenomenal off-road, courageous, adventurous and capable. Whether you are on or off road, it certainly helps that Electronic Air Suspension and Adaptive Dynamics comes as standard in the 130.
The Defender 130 is a powerhouse, just under 2m tall and over 5m long if you don’t include the spare wheel. Don’t be fooled by its size, it is phenomenally responsive, fast and agile. It can reach 0-62 mph in just 5.7 seconds.
In The Defender 130 comfort is king with space for eight passengers across three spacious rows. The second and third rows have some thoughtful touches, such as raised seating which produces a stadium effect. The seats are heated, even in the third row and there are padded armrests, USB-C charging and you can even have luxurious carpet installed underfoot.
Even with all three rows filled with passengers, the ClearSight rear view mirror’s live video feed provides unobstructed views. For optimum comfort you can also set the temperature and intensity of airflow to your personal preference with four-zone climate control with independent controls across all three rows of seating.
However the jewel in the crown is the double panoramic sunroof and the proper windows in the third row that bathe the interiors in natural light. The loadspace is generous to say the least, fold the second and third rows to create an additional 1,232 litres and 2,516 litres of loadspace respectively.
Expect pioneering innovation, such as the Cabin Air Purification Filter which debuts in the 130 and is fitted as standard. It helps to promote the wellbeing and alertness of the driver and passengers as the Cabin Air Purification Filter purges dust and microbes while monitoring CO2 levels.
