We’re comfortably into 2025, and if you’re embracing Veganuary (or simply looking to elevate your plant-based dining game) we’ve found the perfect spot for you. Nestled in the heart of Fitzrovia on Foley Street, KIN Restaurant is the latest venture by the team behind KIN Café.
KIN Restaurant effortlessly blends chic minimalism with a cosy, romantic atmosphere. The interiors, with their warm lighting and natural tones, create an inviting space perfect for an intimate dinner date or a relaxed meal with friends.
As a dairy-free diner, I was thrilled as the menu offers complete freedom of choice, with allergens clearly marked for peace of mind. Our friendly and knowledgeable waitress suggested we choose from a selection of small plates, complemented by a large plate each, to fully explore the variety on offer.
We started with the Ponzu-Roasted Cabbage, a beautifully charred dish with a delicate ponzu glaze on a creamy base. Among the small plates, my personal favourite was the Sautéed Mushrooms on Sourdough, where perfectly seasoned mixed mushrooms met golden, crispy toast. Another standout was the House-Style Aubergine, fried to perfection and topped with their signature sauce that packed a punch of flavour.
For mains, I indulged in the Miso Glazed Aubergine. My dining companion opted for the Cauliflower Steak with Butter Bean Purée, a hearty, flavourful plate that truly showcased the kitchen’s ability to elevate humble ingredients.
To finish, we both selected the Raspberry Sorbet Topped with Chilli, a divine combination of sweet and spicy that was as unexpected as it was delightful. The drink menu added to the experience, offering a variety of waste-free cocktails, craft beers, lagers, and house wines to choose from.
Kin is not just a restaurant; it’s a celebration of plant-based dining done right. Every ingredient is sustainably sourced, ensuring a dining experience that’s as ethical as it is delicious. Whether you’re a seasoned vegan or simply curious, Kin Restaurant is a must-visit for its creative, satisfying dishes and welcoming atmosphere.
Veganuary or not, this is a place I’ll be returning to.
