Did you know that there are over 6,000 languages spoken in the world today? That’s pretty incredible considering the fact that most people can only speak one or two languages. Some of these are popular, recognizable languages like English, Spanish, Arabic, French, etc. But, there are a lot of other languages that have only been spoken for hundreds of years! Some of the least popular languages that are spoken in the world today include Cornish, Nawat, Mirandese, and As-a language spoken by an estimated 6 people!
2) Mythology
This planet is so amazing that countless cultures have created their own mythologies, their own stories to tell about the world. You probably know about Egyptian, Celtic, Roman, and Greek mythology, but there are a lot of other ones as well. Did you know that there are hundreds of mythologies all over the world? Some of these include Etruscan, Slavic, Babylonian, Baluba, and Tibetan. All of these mythologies have a few things in common: they had their gods, their symbols of strength and courage, and their beliefs. Besides that, they share some roots together as well, like the creation of a man and sacrificing.
3) Art
As you can see, there is so much information about the world that it’s hard to contain. This only gets more interesting when you start looking at art. From cave paintings to modern-day graffiti on the sidewalk, art has taken many different forms throughout time. Did you know that in ancient times art was a part of the Olympic games? That’s right, people used to compete against each other in events based on writing and poetry, creating pottery or murals. This goes without saying that art has been a very important part of the world since its early days.
4) Transportation
We can go anywhere these days thanks to our cars, bikes, boats, and planes. We have come a long way from the days of riding horses, canoes, or using our own two feet. Do you know how many miles of road America has? America has over four million miles of roads! That’s enough for you to be able to drive from North America all the way down to South America without having to stop. And how about planes? Did you know that there are around 100,000 commercial flights in the sky every single day? That’s pretty incredible when you think about it.
5) Food and Drinks
This planet has given us so many wonderful things, like food and drink. We’ve come up with all sorts of recipes over the years to try and make ourselves feel better after eating something. Did you know that people drink more than 400 billion cups of coffee every single year? That’s a lot of caffeine, but it tastes so good. Or the fact that about five million pizzas are eaten in America alone each day? That’s surely a delicious meal. Another great food fact? People all over the world eat more than 100 billion bananas a year.
6) Religion
Since this planet was first created, people have been trying to figure out how it works as well as what our purpose is. This has led to religions being created all over the world, from Christianity and Judaism to Buddhism and Hinduism. There are tons of other smaller religions that people practice today-from Zoroastrianism to Animism. The smallest religion in the world is Rastafarianism, a religion created in Jamaica during the 1930s.
7) Earth
And last is the Earth itself. Our home planet is just so beautiful, right? It is a place filled with beauty and wonder-no matter where you go. Did you know that there are over 8 million different species of living organisms on our planet? That includes plants, insects, larger animals, etc. However, scientists have only been able to identify around 1.2 million species so far, most of which are insects. From the tiniest bugs to the largest whales, the Earth is truly a fascinating place.
