For nearly eight decades, Franco’s has been a cornerstone of London’s Italian dining scene, seamlessly blending tradition with contemporary refinement. Established in 1945 and nestled on the prestigious Jermyn Street, this celebrated restaurant offers an authentic Italian experience from breakfast through to dinner.
Upon entering, guests are transported to an elegant yet inviting space. The atmosphere is intimate and serene. Ideal for a relaxed evening, a romantic dinner, or a leisurely lunch. Under the expert guidance of Chef Stefano Turconi, Franco’s delivers a menu that honours Italian heritage while embracing modern culinary finesse.
The menu is thoughtfully divided into sections, Salads, Soups, Pasta, Main Course, and From the Grill, offering a well-curated selection that appeals to a wide range of palates. We began our meal with a choice from the Carpaccio & Tartar section. I opted for the yellow-fin tuna tartar, served with black olives, capers, and tomato. The dish struck a beautiful harmony of fresh, delicate flavours, with the briny depth of the olives and capers enhancing the lightness of the tuna. It was an exquisite start that set the tone for the rest of the meal.
For the main course, I selected the special of the day, the swordfish, which came highly recommended, and it did not disappoint. This dish was the absolute highlight of my meal. Meaty, succulent, and bursting with flavour, the swordfish was expertly cooked, achieving just the right mix of firm texture and delicate tenderness. Alongside, we enjoyed a selection of delicious sides, potatoes, broccoli, and spinach, which complemented the dish beautifully.
A highlight of Franco’s is its annual rosé collection, now in its 20th year. Curated by Head Sommelier Paolo Pellegrino, the selection showcases over 60 rosé wines from around the world, best enjoyed al fresco on Franco’s terrace a true summer delight in the heart of London.
For those seeking a more exclusive experience, Franco’s private dining room offers an intimate retreat, accommodating up to 50 guests for events ranging from corporate gatherings to milestone celebrations.
With its rich history, refined cuisine, and unwavering dedication to hospitality, Franco’s remains a beacon of Italian excellence in London.
