Versailles awakens, as if by magic, for an enchanted Holiday and an extraordinary grand ball by Dior. At the majestic Royal Opera, the first notes play across this dreamscape. The curtain depicting the Sun King’s symbols rises: let the celebration Begin.
Principal dancers Hugo Marchand and Seo Yun open the dance, giving way to a swirl of extraordinary costumed revelers who follow in their footsteps, until the first glimmers of dawn. In a nod to the grand masked balls that Christian Dior adored, masks by Steven Jones elevate merry eyes with an enigmatic aura. Who is who? It’s a mystery. As was customary at grand balls of the era, only the queens of the night shine openly for all to see. Anya Taylor Joy and Deva Cassel, House Fashion and Beauty Ambassadors, reign brilliantly over a spectacular profusion of gold and ribbons. Expressing all the Dior studios’ expertise in true style, they are dressed for the occasion in gowns from the Spring-Summer 2021 haute Couture collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri, Artistic Director for the House Women’s Lines.
All around them, an abundance of Dior presents pays homage to the art of gifting and hosting perfected by the most famous French king of all. In luxurious gift boxes patterned with gleaming royal motifs, specially designed for the occasion by Pietro Ruffo, they contribute to the air of euphoria. They are revealed as the high point of this grand reception, in a truly pleasurable moment for the senses. Iconic House perfumes such as J’adore, Miss Dior and Sauvage reveal their subtle scents, while Prestige skincare offers the promise of a refined and sensual ritual. Meanwhile, colors and textures from makeup looks by Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup, shimmer among the firework display. This waking dream is heightened by La Collection Privée Christian Dior fragrances, whose myriad colors illuminate the French gardens. In a split-second, the Ball of Dreams offers Versailles one of its most magnificent celebrations.
