Hollywire’s golden girl Chelsea Briggs has compiled an intimate playlist of her favourite songs, exclusively for The Arcadia Online.
1. RAC- Hollywood (Feat. Penguin Prison)
I’m actually OBSESSED with this song. Whenever I hear it, I want to stop everything I’m doing & dance around like a crazy person. I envision myself walking down Sunset Blvd. and high-fiving everyone who passes me. True story. Don’t judge.
2. Matt & Kim – Let’s Go
If you are unfamiliar with Matt & Kim – get acquainted ASAP! Every song they put out is rad beyond belief. This specific tune is the best pump up jam ever and the music video is fantastically hilarious! Also they get extra points for a Kim being a rockin’ female drummer.
3. Tom Petty – Free Falling
I was raised on classic rock and the minute I hear this song it instantly takes me back to my Midwest childhood — sitting in my backyard during the summer eating hamburgers & hot dogs with my mom, dad & brother. Not a care in the world. What a classic hit!
4. New Politics – Harlem
The first time I heard this song I knew I was in love. It has such a fun beat & makes for a great workout track! Side note: These guys are killer in concert, so if you ever have a chance — go see them!
5. James Taylor – Fire & Rain
I swear I know EVERY James Taylor song by heart, which is why I had a hard time choosing which one to include in this playlist. James’ soulful voice can put me to sleep at the drop of a hat. Growing up we used to listen to James on our long car rides to and from vacation spots. ‘Fire & Rain, ‘Sweet Baby James’ & ‘Carolina in My Mind’ are all favorites of mine.
6. The 1975 – Robbers
I fall in love with EVERY song that The 1975 put out. They have such a unique sound and are truly phenomenal musicians. This song specifically really spoke to me & I think I’ve watched the music video 748294794 times. It mesmerizes me.
7. Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud
I may have a small obsession with and/or crush on Ed Sheeran. He’s the most talented EVER! ‘Thinking Out Loud’ is a song off his newest album, ‘X’ and it HAS to be my favorite. Ed really knows how to take you on a journey with his lyrics and in this song it’s all about life & love.
Perfection. This song brings me back to my confused adolescent days, but how could I ever deny that time! It specifically reminds me of the summer I had surgery on my leg and couldn’t go outside to play so I literally listened to this album over and over again. SO GOOD! PS: Whatever happened to Natalie?
9. NSYNC – Bye Bye Bye & One Direction – Best Song Ever
Boy bands rule. I will forever and always be a fangirl, which is why I had to include both NSYNC & One Direction as my #3! NSYNC was the first boy band I ever loved with my whole heart, and One Direction is the second. So many dance moves (both good & bad.) Two thumbs up for both these hits!
10. Michael Jackson – ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’
How could I make a playlist without including Michael Jackson. He’s the best of the best & his music always puts me in a good mood. ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’ is a favorite Jackson tune of mine that will forever be on EVERY playlist I EVER make! Cheers to the King of Pop!
