A little train will wind through a snow-covered village at The Dorchester this Christmas, passing miniature buildings and frosted rooftops on its journey through a world made of chocolate. Beyond this enchanting scene, a Christmas tree will preside over the lobby, flowers will dress the hotel for the season and the sound of live music will draw guests towards an evening of celebration. From 14 November, the Mayfair landmark will embrace the delicious anticipation of Christmas, with afternoon tea, candlelit moods and festive feasts giving visitors every reason to linger.
At the heart of it all is the pleasure of coming together. Whether arriving for a family afternoon tea, dressing for dinner or stealing away for a festive night in London, guests will find a calendar filled with occasions worth making time for.
A Chocolate Christmas in The Promenade
Newly appointed executive pastry chef Andrew Blas will bring a confectioner’s imagination to The Promenade, creating an elaborate chocolate winter scene inspired by the nostalgia and traditions of Christmas.
A snow-coated railway station will anchor the display, surrounded by a miniature village of chocolate buildings and snow-dusted rooftops. Through it all, a moving train will carry the scene into life, inviting children and adults alike to stop and follow its progress.
There is something wonderfully evocative about a railway station at Christmas: the promise of a journey, the anticipation of an arrival, the thought of someone waiting at the other end. Rendered in chocolate, that familiar romance becomes a small world to lose yourself in.
Floral displays by the hotel’s in-house designer, Phillip Hammond, will complement the creation, extending the festive atmosphere through The Promenade. In the lobby, the Christmas tree will reclaim its place at the centre of the celebrations, surrounded by seasonal flowers and decorations.

Afternoon Tea With a Little Christmas Wonder
The miniature world will find its way onto the afternoon tea table, too. Andrew Blas’s festive menu will echo the chocolate display through playful pastry details, including a miniature chocolate train.
Finger sandwiches and freshly baked scones will lead into the seasonal pastries, with champagne and sparkling wine available for those wishing to add a celebratory glass. It is an invitation to set aside an afternoon, settle into conversation and let the Christmas shopping wait.
For families, the connection between the village and the tea adds another layer of delight: first, the wonder of discovering the scene; then, the pleasure of recognising its details on the plate. For everyone else, it offers an excellent excuse to rediscover a little childhood excitement.
Festive afternoon tea starts from £130 per person.
The Sound of the Season
On Wednesday 18 November, The Dorchester will mark the beginning of Christmas with a festive concert. A boys’ choir will open the musical celebrations, followed by a festive band, with a seasonal menu and a complimentary drink completing the occasion.
Later in the programme, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club will return to The Grill at The Dorchester for two evenings of live music and dining. Singer-songwriter Frances Madden will perform on Wednesday 25 November, followed by jazz musician Emma Smith on Tuesday 8 December.
Each evening will pair the performance with a three-course dinner by culinary director Martyn Nail. Running from 6.30pm to 10pm, these intimate celebrations offer a particularly appealing festive rendezvous: dress for dinner, gather around the table and let the music take over.
The Ronnie Scott’s evenings start from £175 per person.

Thanksgiving at The Grill
Before December arrives, The Grill will celebrate Thanksgiving on Thursday 26 November with a five-course dinner.
Norfolk Bronze turkey and pecan pie will bring the comforting flavours of the American holiday to Mayfair, alongside dishes including lobster macaroni cheese and scallops. Generous, celebratory and rooted in the pleasure of gathering, the menu offers an early opportunity to bring friends and family together around a festive table.
Thanksgiving dinner starts from £158 per person.
Christmas Feasting at The Dorchester
Throughout the season, The Grill will give guests plenty of reasons to celebrate. From 14 November to 24 December, culinary director Martyn Nail and head chef Jacob Keen-Downs will serve three-course festive menus, making room for long-awaited reunions, end-of-year dinners and spontaneous evenings out.
Christmas Eve will bring a five-course set dinner, followed by a five-course menu on Christmas Day. Among the Christmas Day highlights will be a caviar and crème fraîche vol-au-vent, Norfolk Bronze turkey with traditional trimmings and Christmas pudding served with crème anglaise.
These are dishes that understand the appeal of Christmas ritual: the anticipation of the turkey, the arrival of pudding, the familiar flavours that make the day feel complete.
At Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester, executive chef Jean-Philippe Blondet will present dedicated menus for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, alongside the restaurant’s winter tasting menu. For those planning a particularly special celebration, it adds another compelling dining occasion to the hotel’s festive calendar.

A Sparkling Welcome to 2027
As Christmas gives way to the final days of December, The Dorchester will prepare for another night of celebration.
The Grill will serve a six-course New Year’s Eve dinner feast, while Vesper Bar will welcome the arrival of 2027 with live music, the Vesper Martini and a midnight countdown. Gather for a final toast to the year, then let the evening carry you towards twelve.
On New Year’s Day, lunch at The Grill will offer a gentler beginning: an opportunity to meet again, exchange stories from the night before and enjoy the first leisurely meal of the year.
Stay for the Magic
For those who would like the celebrations to continue beyond dinner, The Dorchester’s Spirit of the Season offer will be available from 11 November 2026 to 9 January 2027.
The package includes an overnight stay, £150 hotel credit to enjoy in the restaurants or spa, and a seasonal welcome gift. Rates start from £1,110 per room, per night.
Make it a festive escape to London, with time for Mayfair’s shop windows, an afternoon tea and an evening that ends upstairs. Before retiring, take one last look at the chocolate village. Beneath its snowy rooftops, the little train will be making its way through Christmas once more.
