Forced to flee from his country and away from his successful businesses destroyed during the conflict in Damascus, Syrian chef Imad Alarnab has reimagined his culinary delights in the heart of Carnaby Street, Soho.
Arriving in London in 2015 and taking refuge in the city, Imad would eventually go on to open his first restaurant in Kingly Court in 2021. Now in this central London location, Imad’s is a cosy and welcoming open kitchen on the top floor of Kingly Court’s eclectic courtyard dining.
With a new breakfast menu now available from this month, expect perfectly portioned small plates and sides. The Fatteh is a must order and is especially enhanced with a side order of Hummus and Pitta. This rich dish has layers of fried flat bread, chickpeas, tahini and finished ghee – Syria’s answer to a classic Sunday fry-up. To complete your breakfast, opt for some dips from Baba Ganoush and extra pita bread, alongside trying out Qahwa Syrian Coffee, or Syrian Chai. With Imad’s experience owning several juice bars, guests can expect a range of colourful and refreshing juice options that will be guaranteed to quench your thirst.
Citing his eagerness to share the menu, Imad Alarnab revealed: “I am very excited to introduce a new breakfast menu with some new dishes that I have adapted and family favourites, such as sweet warm pita with date molasses and tahini. This mezze style breakfast is a perfect way to start a day with your friends or family.”
Paying homage to his roots, Imad has created a flavourful and uncomplicated menu, ensuring you are left feeling satisfied. To avoid missing out on a table, it’s advised to make a reservation, as the restaurant transforms during peak lunch and dinner hours.
For those keen to take the flavours home, Imad shares his family’s secret recipes in his cookbook, Syrian Kitchen.
