Once upon a time, in the heart of London’s most fashionable neighbourhood, there stood a rather extraordinary townhouse where magic was never far away. Every season, London holds its breath in anticipation of Annabel’s next spectacular transformation, when the iconic façade at 46 Berkeley Square becomes a canvas for the fantastical, the extravagant and the utterly unexpected.
For Halloween 2026, the legendary Mayfair institution has conjured perhaps its most deliciously wicked creation yet. Entitled Twisted Fairytales, this year’s extraordinary installation takes the beloved stories of childhood and turns them into something altogether darker, more mysterious and irresistibly enchanting. Forget everything you thought you knew about happily ever after.
Presiding over the entrance is an enormous, illuminated pumpkin carriage, a hauntingly beautiful reinterpretation of Cinderella’s most recognisable treasure. Yet this is no ordinary invitation to the royal ball. Surrounded by mysterious figures and shadowy details, the magnificent sculptural creation appears to have emerged from a storybook where the pages have been rewritten by a rather mischievous imagination. The result is a captivating collision of nostalgia and the macabre, an invitation to abandon reality, if only for a moment. And as with all the very best fairytales, the real magic begins beyond the door.
Inside Annabel’s, visitors are invited to tumble even further down the rabbit hole. The Club’s reception has been transformed into a surreal homage to Alice in Wonderland, where a suspended Alice appears in an extraordinary upside-down installation. More than seven months in the making, the elaborate creation transports Members into a world where perspective is distorted, imagination reigns supreme and nothing is quite as it seems.
It is a world in which childhood innocence meets theatrical decadence, where the familiar becomes fantastically strange and every detail has been conceived to surprise and delight.
The enchantment reaches its crescendo on Friday 30 October, when Annabel’s hosts its legendary Halloween Party in partnership with Don Julio 1942. For one extraordinary evening, the entire Club will surrender to the spell of Twisted Fairytales, becoming an immersive wonderland of wicked characters, fantastical costumes and spellbinding entertainment.
Guests are invited to step through the looking glass and embrace their most imaginative alter egos, as familiar fairytale figures are reinvented through fashion, performance and extravagant theatrical design. Expect an intoxicating atmosphere where glamour flirts with the grotesque and the boundaries between dreams and nightmares become beautifully blurred.
Tatiana Kharchylava, Creative Director of The Birley Clubs, explains the inspiration behind this year’s transformation:
“For Halloween this year, I wanted to bring a sense of childhood nostalgia back, but reinterpret it in a way that feels contemporary, stylish and unexpected. Twisted Fairytales gives Members and guests the freedom to revisit the characters and stories they remember from childhood, and transform them through fashion, costume and creativity.”
She continues: “From the façade to the interiors and entertainment, the whole Club becomes part of that story. It feels familiar at first – and then takes a darker turn. With a night of unrivalled entertainment and captivating displays, it promises to be one to remember.”
