Fenix Mayfair is London’s Most Beautiful Greek Restaurant

Hidden away just moments from Green Park, Fenix feels almost impossibly removed from the pace of central London. Step inside and the city seems to disappear. Warm, sculptural interiors, soft lighting and Grecian-inspired details create the feeling of an oceanfront beach club in Mykonos. It is easily one of London’s most beautiful restaurants and also has a sister restaurant in Manchester.

The concept draws on ancient mythology, timeless architecture and the traditions of Greek hospitality, but the experience never feels themed. Instead, Fenix takes those influences and turns them into something contemporary, polished and immersive. The result is a space that feels celebratory without becoming overwhelming, somewhere equally suited to an intimate date night, a long lunch with friends or a glamorous dinner that stretches late into the evening.

A Modern Greek-Mediterranean Escape in Mayfair

At the heart of Fenix is a sharing-style menu created to bring people together. Head Chef Zisis Giannouras draws heavily on his Greek heritage, using familiar flavours and ingredients as a starting point before introducing contemporary technique and subtle Japanese, Peruvian and French influences. That approach becomes even more pronounced from 14 October, when Fenix launches its new seasonal menu.

The new dishes explore a richer, more autumnal side of Greek-Mediterranean cooking, with fig, walnut, honey, pear, carob, mastiha and sumac appearing throughout. It is still unmistakably Greek in character, but the flavours have been layered and refined in a way that feels completely at home in Mayfair.

The intention is not to reinvent Greek cooking beyond recognition, but to take the ingredients, memories and traditions behind it and present them through a more modern lens.

What to Order at Fenix Mayfair

Before anything else, order the pita. Fresh from the oven, it arrives warm, lightly charred and extraordinarily soft – almost cloud-like in the centre. Tear it apart while it is still warm and drag it through the cool tzatziki and you immediately understand why some of the simplest dishes are often the ones you remember.

The Beetroot Salad is another strong opening dish, pairing earthy beetroot with blackberries, Greek cream cheese and pistachio pesto. It is colourful, fresh and beautifully balanced, bringing sweetness, acidity and richness together without becoming heavy.

Then there is the King Crab Truffle Salad, which leans considerably more decadent. King crab is paired with spicy mayonnaise, avocado and white truffle dressing before being finished with fresh black truffle. It is indulgent, luxurious and exactly the sort of dish you expect in a restaurant this theatrical.

The Halloumi Cheese Tempura is particularly addictive, combining crisp batter with yuzu hollandaise and shiso vinaigrette. Familiar halloumi suddenly feels completely different: salty, crunchy and cut through with bright acidity.

Fenix’s glazed half chicken is one of the more dramatic dishes to arrive at the table, beautifully presented atop a clay pot with harissa, cucumber and pickled onion. It is generous, deeply flavoured and exactly the kind of centrepiece that works well with the restaurant’s sharing philosophy.

For pasta, the King Prawn Linguine brings together tiger prawns, tomato and linguine in a rich but uncomplicated combination, while the Spicy Sweetcorn is an excellent side — grilled corn with spicy mayonnaise and Parmesan that disappears from the table rather quickly.

The New Fenix Seasonal Menu

One of the new highlights of the autumn menu is the Scallop Crudo, paired with Santorini fava, mastiha and mandarin. The combination sounds delicate and precise, bringing citrus and the distinctive aromatic character of mastiha to sweet raw scallop.

The Wagyu Gyros takes something deeply familiar and turns up the luxury, combining wagyu with Aegean spices, labneh and jalapeño.

Prawn Saganaki stays closer to its Greek roots, with shellfish tomato sauce, ouzo and feta, while the Crispy Pork Belly moves into more autumnal territory with pear mostarda, walnut and honey glaze.

The Aegean Duck Breast is paired with fig vinegar jus, garlic-infused potato purée and charred chicory, while the Slow-Cooked Lamb Leg is designed for the table, arriving with warm pita, tzatziki, red pepper and lemon herbs, and sumac onions.

Desserts Worth Staying For

The desserts are every bit as considered as the savoury menu. The Chocolate Ion Ice is a layered combination of milk chocolate mousse and crispy almond nougatine – rich, textural and deeply satisfying. The deconstructed Banoffee New Style is softer and more nostalgic, combining velvet cream with toffee caramel, banana and nutmeg.

On the new seasonal menu, the Crispy Filo Mille-Feuille offers something more delicate, layering crisp pastry with walnut praline, Dulcey ganache and caramel ice cream.

Service That Matches the Setting

The waitresses glide through the restaurant looking every bit like modern Greek goddesses, but the service is warm rather than aloof. Attentive without hovering, polished without becoming formal, it helps the restaurant retain a sense of fun. Gabbie was a particular delight, friendly, sweet and genuinely welcoming.

Even with the surrounding tables full, dishes arrived at impressive speed. There was no sense of being rushed, but equally none of the long gaps that can drain the energy from a sharing-style meal.

A Piece of Mykonos in London

Outside, Green Park and the busy streets of central London are only moments away. Inside, it feels as though someone has quietly relocated you to the Greek islands.

The curves, lighting and tactile finishes create a dreamlike Mediterranean atmosphere, but the restaurant’s appeal goes beyond its beauty. The food is confident, generous and full of flavour, the service is warm, and the sharing format gives the entire experience a sociable ease.

With Head Chef Zisis Giannouras’ new seasonal menu arriving, Fenix is moving into autumn without losing any of its sun-soaked escapism.

For anyone looking for a beautiful restaurant in Mayfair, an impressive London date-night destination or contemporary Greek-Mediterranean dining with a sense of occasion, Fenix is difficult to beat. You may arrive from the streets of London, but for a few hours at least, it feels a world away.
