Flexjet has taken delivery of the world’s first Embraer Praetor 600E, becoming the exclusive fleet launch customer for the next-generation super-midsize jet and introducing one of the most striking cabin innovations yet seen in private aviation.
At the centre of the aircraft is Embraer’s new Smart Window technology — a 42-inch 4K OLED display integrated directly into the cabin sidewall, transforming what would traditionally be a static interior surface into a cinematic, interactive digital window.
Combined with Starlink Wi-Fi, upgraded seating, enhanced audio and a reworked cabin environment, the Praetor 600E has been designed to make the journey itself feel as compelling as the destination.
For Flexjet, which expects to receive 12 Praetor 600Es by the end of the year, the delivery marks the latest chapter in a relationship with Embraer stretching back more than two decades.
A New Kind of Window at 45,000 Feet
The most dramatic innovation inside the Praetor 600E is impossible to miss.
Curved precisely to follow the aircraft’s interior architecture, the Smart Window replaces part of the cabin sidewall with a vast 42-inch 4K OLED touchscreen. It can display three different real-time high-definition exterior views, creating the sensation of looking through an oversized virtual window onto the world outside. The effect changes depending on how the cabin is being used.
For meetings, the divan and adjacent seats are arranged around the screen to create a sleek, boardroom-like environment for video calls, presentations and collaborative work. Because the display is built directly into the wall, there is no bulky television cabinet or credenza interrupting the space. Once work ends, the atmosphere can shift completely.
Seats recline, lighting dims and the Smart Window becomes a cinema or gaming screen, supported by rich, studio-grade sound. On overnight flights, passengers in lie-flat seats can even leave the screen displaying a live panoramic view of the night sky.
It is technology that reshape the relationship between passenger and cabin.
The Cabin Becomes Part of the Journey
That idea is particularly significant for Flexjet.
“Flexjet’s aircraft Owner demographic has been trending younger and they want the cabin to become part of the experience,” says Chief Executive Officer Michael Silvestro.
The Praetor 600E has been designed around exactly that expectation. Beyond the Smart Window, the cabin introduces redesigned seating with electric-assisted controls, ergonomic support and seamless conversion into lie-flat beds.
Newly expanded headroom above each seating position creates greater volume across the upper half of the cabin, giving the interior a noticeably more open feel.
Lighting, temperature and music can be adjusted through an intuitive cabin management system or via voice commands, while a new touchscreen panel positioned overhead allows passengers to control airflow and lighting while also displaying live journey information, including time to destination.
Sound has received equally serious attention. Embraer’s award-winning Omni-Fi speakers and NICE4K audio system are designed to fill the cabin with immersive, balanced sound and deeper bass, whether passengers are watching a film, gaming, holding a video call or simply listening to music.
Performance Meets Digital Luxury
The Praetor 600E arrives at a moment when private aviation is increasingly being shaped by technology as much as by traditional notions of luxury.
Range, speed and cabin size remain critical, but connectivity, personalisation and digital integration are becoming equally important.
Embraer describes the aircraft as the next generation of the private flight experience, combining the long-range capabilities of the Praetor platform with an environment designed around productivity, entertainment and comfort.
Michael Amalfitano, President and CEO of Embraer Executive Jets, describes the aircraft as a new expression of the two companies’ shared commitment to innovation, with the Smart Window creating “new possibilities for productivity, comfort and connectivity in the air.”
For Flexjet Owners, the arrival of Starlink across all Praetor 600E aircraft further strengthens that proposition, bringing high-speed inflight connectivity to an already highly digitised cabin.
Part of a $7 Billion Fleet Expansion
The first Praetor 600E delivery is also part of a much larger investment. In February 2025, Flexjet and Embraer announced a landmark agreement valued at up to $7 billion, covering a firm order for 182 aircraft, options for an additional 30 jets and an expanded support and services package.
The order spans three aircraft families: the Praetor 600E, Praetor 500E and Phenom 300E. Flexjet is already taking delivery of Phenom 300E aircraft, while Praetor 500E deliveries are expected to begin later this year.
The scale of the agreement underlines the importance of Embraer to Flexjet’s future fleet, particularly as the company continues to expand internationally and court a new generation of private aviation customers.
A Partnership Built Around Firsts
Flexjet and Embraer have a long history of introducing new aircraft together. Flexjet became a fleet launch customer for the Legacy Executive in 2003, followed by the Phenom 300 in 2010, Legacy 450 in 2016 and both the Praetor 500 and Praetor 600 in 2019.
The company also received Embraer’s 100th Phenom 300 in 2012 and the manufacturer’s 1,000th business jet, a Legacy 500, in 2016. That history now continues with the Praetor 500E and Praetor 600E.
It is a partnership that has repeatedly centred on technological firsts, from early fly-by-wire aircraft in the Flexjet fleet to what is now the world’s first certified aircraft with a fully operational Smart Window.
Private Aviation, Reimagined
The significance of the Praetor 600E lies not only in a larger screen or more advanced cabin controls. It reflects a broader shift in how luxury travellers increasingly expect aircraft to function.
A private jet is no longer simply a fast, discreet way to move between destinations. It must operate as office, lounge, bedroom, cinema and connected digital space — sometimes within the same flight.
The Praetor 600E embraces that idea completely. Its Smart Window turns the aircraft’s architecture into technology. Its redesigned seating turns the cabin into a more flexible living environment. Starlink keeps passengers connected, while integrated lighting, sound and climate controls allow the atmosphere to change almost instantly.
For Flexjet, taking delivery of the first example is both a continuation of its long relationship with Embraer and a statement about where private aviation is heading next.
The future of luxury flying, it seems, will not just be defined by how far or how fast an aircraft can travel. It will be defined by what happens inside it.
