When KOKO Became COCO: Inside CHANEL’s Crush Absolu Celebration

On Thursday, September 10, London’s legendary music venue KOKO became COCO as CHANEL celebrated the launch of its new fragrance, COCO MADEMOISELLE Crush Absolu.

Created in partnership with KOKO and The House of KOKO, the immersive event transformed the historic venue into the captivating world of Coco Mademoiselle.

KOKO is such an iconic London venue, and I have an abundance of memories there spanning more than 15 years, so being invited back to celebrate with CHANEL felt like a dream.

We made our way up to The House of KOKO’s Club Room, where it felt as though we had stepped back in time. Drinks were served on trays beside bottles of CHANEL fragrance and napkins printed with playful notes declaring, “I have a crush on you” and “You’re my Crush Absolu.” Copies of a specially created CHANEL newspaper were scattered throughout the room, adding to the feeling that we had entered an entirely different world.

Hidden rooms revealed makeup displays and record players, each inspired by a different Coco Mademoiselle scent. Actors dressed head-to-toe in CHANEL moved through the space, stopping to speak with guests before slipping seamlessly into theatrical performances.

We were then ushered downstairs for a series of live jazz performances, with choreographed dancers and beautiful set design inspired by a Parisian café. For a moment, it felt as though we were starring in our very own CHANEL fragrance campaign.

Every detail had been thoughtfully considered, creating a truly immersive journey into the world of CHANEL. United by a shared spirit of creativity and reinvention, CHANEL and KOKO delivered a spectacular celebration defined by the rebellious energy at the heart of both iconic names.
