A Celebration of Two British Icons Paying Tribute to London’s Pie Heritage

It is no great secret that The Grill by Tom Booton at The Dorchester is all our all-time favourite restaurant for lunch. With an impressive menu of delicious comfort food, made from the finest ingredients and perfectly served with charisma and style, you simply couldn’t want for more. Well, that’s until The Grill by Tom Booton at The Dorchester announced that it was joining forces with East London’s legendary pie shop, G. Kelly, to mark British Pie Week (March 3–9, 2025) with a special collaboration that honors London’s rich pie-making tradition. Both institutions, deeply rooted in the city’s culinary history since the 1930s, are coming together to spotlight the timeless appeal of this beloved dish.

Since 1931, The Dorchester has stood as a symbol of luxury in Mayfair, overlooking Hyde Park. Renowned for hosting the famous, distinguished, and talented, it continues to set the benchmark for elegance and sophistication in the heart of London. With a reputation for world-class dining, The Dorchester is the perfect setting for this exciting partnership, bridging the gap between fine dining and traditional British comfort food.

Tom Booton, executive chef of The Grill by Tom Booton, has crafted an exclusive pie that gives a contemporary twist to a British classic. Inspired by G. Kelly’s legacy, the pie features a sumptuous pork and mushroom filling encased in delicate, buttery pastry. Available only at The Grill by Tom Booton from March 3 to 9, the dish will be served with creamy mashed potatoes, G. Kelly’s signature parsley sauce, and traditional vinegars. Diners can also enjoy Tom’s signature chicken and vegetarian pies throughout the week.

Meanwhile, G. Kelly, the historic family-run pie shop that has been serving the East End since 1939, will present a limited-edition chicken and mushroom pie inspired by Tom Booton’s creation at The Dorchester. Made with premium British ingredients, this exclusive pie will be available for takeaway and dine-in at G. Kelly for the duration of British Pie Week.

This unique partnership between The Grill by Tom Booton and G. Kelly is a tribute to London’s enduring pie culture. Both establishments share a deep commitment to preserving tradition while embracing innovation, making this collaboration a seamless blend of heritage and modernity.

“Pies symbolize comfort, heritage, and community in British culture,” says Tom Booton. “By working with G. Kelly, we’re not only celebrating this tradition but also demonstrating how pies can thrive in both fine dining and classic pie shop settings.”

Neil Vening, third-generation owner of G. Kelly, adds: “It’s an honor to collaborate with The Grill by Tom Booton for British Pie Week. We hope this partnership brings well-deserved attention to London’s pie shops and their significant role in our city’s culinary identity.”

Beyond the delicious offerings, this collaboration also aims to raise awareness about the importance of preserving London’s historic pie shops—longstanding staples of the city’s vibrant food scene.
