Richard Mille is proud to announce the addition of Adolfo “Poroto” Cambiaso to its esteemed family of partners. At just 19-years-old, Poroto represents the next generation of talent in polo, a sport deeply ingrained in his lineage. As the seventh member of the Cambiaso family to pursue polo, he follows in the footsteps of his iconic father, Adolfo Cambiaso Sr., widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the sport’s history. Poroto joins Richard Mille as its second polo ambassador, alongside long-standing partner Pablo Mac Donough, further solidifying the brand’s commitment to supporting emerging talent.
Poroto’s journey into polo began early. He was riding horses by the age of four and wielding a polo mallet just a few years later. “I love to compete,” he says, “and I tried many sports, like tennis and football, but I realised I was better at polo. It was easy to learn because I love horses and riding.” Growing up on the family farm, he began by playing casually with friends. “In the beginning, tournaments were just fun. Even though there were expectations, I didn’t feel pressured. But once I realised I was excelling, the pressure grew.”
At just 14, Poroto made headlines by winning the Royal Windsor Cup in the UK, receiving the trophy from Queen Elizabeth II. He has since become the youngest player in history to win three of the sport’s most prestigious tournaments: the Queen’s Cup, the US Open, and the Argentine Open. In 2022, as part of La Dolfina— the legendary 40-goal handicap team founded by his father— Poroto became the youngest player to win the Argentine Open and achieve a 10-goal handicap at just 17 years old. That same year, he scored 113 goals, earning the title of top scorer in the fiercely competitive Argentine season. His accolades include the Fair Play Award and the coveted Silver Olympia for best polo player of the year.
Poroto acknowledges the weight of the Cambiaso legacy but is carving his own path as polo’s most exciting rising star. “I lead a team in the US and England, and I love it. Playing with my father for La Dolfina has taught me so much, on and off the field, but I’m still learning,” he explains.
“Polo is an incredibly demanding sport, both physically and mentally. I train, play, and go to the gym every day. I practise penalties like a golfer. It’s all about reacting quickly and making decisions in the moment. The adrenaline is amazing. But winning also depends on good equipment. Like Formula 1, having the right horses makes all the difference to your team.”
Poroto’s latest piece of high-performance equipment is the RM 67-02 Automatic Extra Flat sports watch. Crafted from Quartz TPT®, Carbon TPT® composite, and grade 5 titanium, it weighs a mere 32 grams. “It’s so light and comfortable, I hardly notice it. I wear it on my left, ungloved hand, which holds the reins,” says Poroto.
Through this partnership, Richard Mille deepens its ties to the world of polo—a sport that embodies passion, precision, and the pursuit of excellence. This collaboration reflects a shared ethos of embracing challenges and pushing boundaries.
