“Murger” is dubbed the world’s oldest sandwich or hamburger, with the bread and meat dating back to the Qin and the Zhou Dynasty (from 206 BC – 1045 BC). Murger means “meat sandwich in bread” and is a popular Chinese street food. It is said to originate back to when General Baiqi from the Qin dynasty needed transportable food supply for troops.
Named the “Roujiamo” the meat and bread combo is considered to be the Chinese equivalent to the hamburger known in the west.
To try a Murger, choose from either the Pork murger (option to have this lean) or a spicy beef murger. If you are feeling like something different from the everyday, try the murger with roasted duck. With high quality meat that is rich and flavourful, it’s no surprise why they have survived generations.
If you want to dive into a bowl of comforting and warming noodles, choose from the four different types of noodles available and pick from four flavours and toppings. Biangbiang noodles are the the wide and belt like noodles, originating from Shaanxi province of China. The name biang biang comes from the onomatopoeia of the of the sound of dough hitting the surface.
The surface area of the noodle means it soaks up the flavour of the dish well and can be simultaneously soft and chewy in a very satisfying way.
Other types of noodles available are La Tiao Zi and spinach noodle as well as dry beef noodle. Or if you fancy, try your hand at some cold noodles as a refreshing alternative in the hot weather.
