SUSHISAMA Covent Garden is perfectly situated in the heart of London’s theatre-land, just a stone’s throw from many extravagant shows. Housed at the Opera Terrace, the restaurant boasts vast rooftop views overlooking the piazza. Its set Pre and Post Theatre Dining menu is fit for its centre-stage location.
The interiors are simply stunning, with a tropical greenhouse style that is attested by the glass rooftop filled with bright, exotic flowers and hanging plants. The plush seating and striking artwork, that leads up to the main dining space, beautifully match the flowers. The vibrance that echoes the fusion between Japanese, Brazilian, and Peruvian cultures dances onto the plates, showcasing the punchy blend of flavours.
For starters, I had the juicy Ribeye anticuchos skewers served with a side of large-kennel, Peruvian corn. Following on, I opted for the pretty pink Sasa rolls, filled with shrimp tempura, quinoa, shishito pepper, and spicy mayo which was simply delicious!
To seal the deal, I had an assortment of chocolate, raspberry, and mango Mochi served with the finest crumbly butter biscuit pieces.
If you’re feeling adventurous, the drinks menu is extensive, with refreshing signatures and Samba serves, such as the Sambatini. This is an ever-changing exclusive monthly creation made in-house by the expert bar team, making for an excellent pair to the dishes.
Catering to preferences and dietary requirements, there is a beautiful selection available for each course. The three-course menu is priced at £36pp, Monday-Friday between the hours of 12 pm – 6 pm and 10 pm – close. As the menu is light, I would recommend adding on some extra sides or aperitivos to get you set for the night.
