Ethereal singer/songwriter Kina Grannis has compiled an intimate playlist of her favourite songs, exclusively for The Arcadia Online.
1. Bon Iver – Holocene
The production of this song is perfection to me. Every part is so subtle and yet so powerful.
2. Coldplay – See You Soon
This is perhaps one of my favourite guitar parts ever. This song was there for me during some heavy times in life and because of that, it has always held a special place in my heart.
3. The Staves – Mexico
I love how this song slowly builds. you almost don’t realise as the new elements are introduced. It just grows so naturally.
4. Mumford & Sons – Timshel
It takes a special song to stand on its own as raw as this song does. It feels so real and I absolutely love it.
5. Sigur Ros – Godan Daginn
How can something sound this magical?
6. Sara Bareilles – Basket Case
The production is so simple but it just tears straight into my heart. I love the honesty in her vocals.
7. Daughter – Youth
Beautiful guitar tone, insane vocals and killer drums. Love.
8. S Carey – Mothers
I love the vocal layers on this song. I love when vocals are used as instrumentation.
9. Whitley – More Than Life
I love how dry the guitar and vocals are in this recording. It feels like you’re sitting in the same room as them.
10. Kodaline – All I Want
Such emotive singing, it hurts so good.
