My Life in Isolation: Dominika Sedlakova

Dom is a Slovakian born model, she is a Capricorn who enjoys making clothes, painting and making love.

We caught up with Dom to find out about her life in isolation…

“When you are sad or feel like everything is falling apart, think about Trump being banned from Twitter.”

What does isolation look like where you live? How has your local community been affected?

I guess pretty similar as in other countries. I was lucky though, I’ve spent my isolation with my best friend, which later became my boyfriend haha.

I finally started painting again, even sold some of my art pieces, I started my own brand, which I planned for so long and  I  finally got time to do it during lockdown. But I know there are so many people and families that have been badly affected by the pandemic and I’m sending my energy to them.

Can you talk us through your daily routine in isolation?

Well as I have nothing to do, I don’t have to wake up early haha so I mostly have nice sleep in. During the day I walk our dog, make coffee and breakfast, then read or paint or take a bath and do my facial routine. I clean the house, go visit my mom and brother, then play cards with my boyfriend, have glass of wine and listen to music on our gramophone. I’ve also started to learn Spanish.

What are the biggest impacts the lockdown has had on your life?

I definitely don’t take silly things seriously anymore, it’s a waste of time and precious energy. I feel happier than before, which sounds weird I know but I just appreciate life more than ever before. I attracted happiness and simplicity and I truly enjoy the new me I guess.

What has been a silver lining from being in isolation? Any special memories?

I guess the fact that I’ve got my boyfriend now and that my brother had a successful operation of his upper leg.

What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learnt during this time?

That we must not expect anything! We have to trust our intuitions and sometimes instead of listening to our head, give our heart a chance too.

What are your self-care tips at home?

Meditate, moisturise, explore nature, talk, breathe, drink lots of water and a glass of wine in the evening won’t kill you.

Where do you want to travel to when the restrictions are lifted?

My boyfriend bought me a necklace in the shape of an island in the Caribbean, so I guess I’ll start there and it will give me a reason to wear the necklace.

Transport yourself to December 2021, what would you like to have achieved this year?

I would like to become my best me, plus I would like to build my brand into a success.
