Cheltenham is the home of hidden gems. It is here that you will find Michelin-starred fine dining restaurants and antique shops down narrow cobbled streets. This historic spa town is home to world-famous events such as the Cheltenham Races and neighbours the Cotswolds, beloved for its idyllic countryside and some of the best pubs in the world.
Set on the heart of Cheltenham’s iconic Montpellier Street is another hidden gem, The Bradley Hotel. Located within one of the grandest complete historical regency houses in all of Cheltenham, although it is less of a house and more of a home.
It is here, inside the picture-perfect Georgian manor that casual luxury and cosiness combine harmoniously, staff will greet you like an old friend and immediately make you feel completely at home.
Inside, The Bradley is a treasure-trove of glorious antiques and the walls are decorated with beautiful paintings. Aesthetically it toes the line between the grandeur of a Regency home and the contemporary comforts that guests adore.
The guest lounge is the perfect example of this. It overlooks the Royal Parade and is filled with a smattering of period furniture, sumptuous sofas and even a vintage gramophone player. The room is heavy with the scent of freshly-cut flowers, there is homemade cake and an overflowing bowl of fresh fruit and sweets on display. There is even an honesty bar set up every afternoon into the night, perfect for pre-dinner cocktails or a cosy nightcap.
There are an array of bedrooms, set across the four-floors of the house, all of which have been newly re-carpeted and decorated. Expect a generously stocked hospitality tray on arrival and a bathroom filled with luxurious Penhaligon’s toiletries.
Beds are dressed in crisp sheets and high-quality bedding with decadent mattresses and perfectly plumped pillows. There are all the things one would expect, such as a flat screen TV with freeview, Nespresso coffee machine, hairdryer and heavenly fluffy bathrobes.
The luxury top floor bedroom is a personal favourite. The vast room offers views of the picturesque tree-lined Bayshill Road. It boasts an antique bed with a luxurious wool and silk mattress and an incredible en-suite bathroom with a shower, heated floors and stacks of fluffy towels from the heated towel rail.
The Bradley offers breakfast, one of the finest in town, which is served in the Dining Room, sun-soaked conservatory or pretty Garden Terrace.
There is a vast selection of fresh juices, cereals, pastries and fresh fruit and yoghurt. Signature dishes include The Full Bradley, with locally-sourced sausage, rashers of hand cured bacon, free-range egg served as you like it, mushrooms, tomatoes, black pudding and baked beans.
The menu also features a smattering of British staples, such as baked beans on toast with a crown of melted cheese, a good old bacon sandwich oozing with butter and the classic boiled egg and soldiers.
If you are looking for the perfect cosy getaway, with some of the most glorious countryside and one of the most vibrant towns in England on your doorstep, look no further than The Bradley.
