There are restaurants you recommend for the food, others for the room, and a rare few that make every visit feel like an occasion. 34 Mayfair is our favourite restaurant in London because it somehow manages all three.
Tucked just off Grosvenor Square, the restaurant has perfected a particular kind of Mayfair glamour: polished but never stiff, buzzy without becoming chaotic, and luxurious while still feeling wonderfully comfortable. Its mirrored bar, open kitchen and charcoal grill give the room a sense of theatre before the evening has even begun.
This autumn, Ronnie Scott’s returned to 34 Mayfair for a six-week Friday night residency, bringing live jazz, dinner and cocktails together in one of London’s most atmospheric dining rooms.

Ronnie Scott’s Comes to Mayfair
The residency began on 18 September and runs until 23 October 2026, with three 30-minute sets each Friday at 7.30pm, 8.30pm and 9.30pm.
Jo Harrop opened the series, followed by Sahra Gure, Polly Gibbons and Cherise. Emma Smith will perform on 16 October, with Natalie Williams closing the residency on 23 October.
Inspired by the glamour of New York’s jazz and dining culture, the collaboration feels entirely at home at 34 Mayfair. Live music becomes part of the evening rather than a separate event, carrying guests from cocktails through dinner and into the final set.
Dinner with a Soundtrack
The restaurant’s open kitchen and charcoal grill remain at the heart of the experience, serving everything from USDA Prime and Wagyu steaks to seafood, seasonal sides and generous dishes made for sharing.
There is something wonderfully effortless about eating dinner while a jazz singer performs a few metres away. The atmosphere becomes more intimate as the evening unfolds, but never overly formal.
It is particularly good for a date night when simply booking dinner does not feel quite special enough.
Not every table has a direct view of the performance area, but the music carries throughout the restaurant, making the residency part of the atmosphere wherever you are sitting.

Our Favourite Restaurant Gets Even Better
We have long considered 34 Mayfair our favourite London restaurant.
It combines excellent food, genuinely warm hospitality and one of the most consistently brilliant atmospheres in the city. It is glamorous enough for a celebration but comfortable enough to become somewhere you return to simply because you love being there.
For two more Friday nights this October, Ronnie Scott’s adds the perfect soundtrack.
